The CIAPEC cooperative works with over 1000 families to provide 294,000 kg of coffee annually. They encourage the farmers to utilize sustainable harvesting practices to protect the natural biodiversity (flora and wild fauna) of the region. The high mountains, cloud covered forests, ecological reserves, and crystalline rivers create and ideal environment for the production of quality coffee.
The coffee grows in the highlands surrounding the Carnavi district of LaPaz, Bolivia at elevations of 1400 to 1700 meters. Only ripe cherries are hand-picking and wet processed following the European Process guidelines.
The coffee exhibits a pleasant aroma, that of dried-fruit. The taste is well balanced, with good body, winey acidity, sweet tea-like accents and a long finish.
Makes a very nice espresso. Give it a try.
